Resistance Work (weights)
The importance of resistance work remains greatly misunderstood. Weight training is an important tool no matter what your goals may be. It delivers an increase in lean muscle mass, leading to a speed up in metabolic rate, so more calories are burned when the body is at rest. At the same time your physique is toned and firmed. Functional resistance is beneficial in day to day tasks like picking up a box, your shopping or your child.
Boxing Training
Boxercise is the new exercise fad, but it remains very static in movement. Richard’s boxing training differs from Boxercise in that movement is much more realistic and technical - good for most clients, since 700 calories can be expended per session. Common results are: increased stamina, fat loss, improved muscle tone, better reaction speed and co-ordination, and improved self confidence. WARNING: this training can be addictive! Richard is from a boxing background and understands the benefits of Boxercise – but regularly sees the flaws in it too!
Posture and Core stability
It has long been recognised that a weak core (mid section) and bad posture are the two main culprits for lower back pain. By an increase in core exercises better posture can be achieved, helping prevent potential back problems.
General Fitness
General wellbeing, fitness and stamina levels can be increased quickly and safely by following Richard’s instruction. Workouts are varied and fun, to keep the body guessing.
Sports specific
Are you looking to be better conditioned for your sport of choice? Richard will work with you – as he does with a number of clients – to help you achieve peak performance in your sport.
Nutrition
Yes, we all think our eating habits are pretty good, but are we really eating in accordance with our goals and what we want to achieve with our body? Richard can guide you through this important and sometimes complex process because, after all, correct nutrition and specific exercise go hand in hand with better, quicker results!
